Refined, Restrained, Real.
These are the three ‘R’s that define my design approach. Whether the project is a cozy apartment with a modest budget or a palatial manse with unlimited funds, the goal is to create an elegantly refined space rooted in timelessness that evokes everlasting love for every single nook & cranny of the home. Restraint in design is the most difficult to execute but is necessary to tell the right story. Form over function and vise versa need not be when you can have both with a beautifully practical interior.
My approach is collaborative; I will work with you to identify your vision while offering direction for creating functionally beautiful spaces. I go vintage whenever possible and juxtapose old and new, avoiding the cookie cutter design catalogue look at all costs. I am inspired by Parisian architecture, natural materials, midcentury modern icons, Gustavian style antiques and contemporary designers such as Rose Uniacke.
About Olivia
As a child, Olivia would sketch floor plans of dream homes, rearrange the furniture in her parents’ home and ride around the neighborhood pointing out architectural styles. Her first design project was the first home she purchased, a sad Colonial with yellow walls and an awful brown kitchen. In an ultra competitive real estate market, she had a vision for a home that nobody else seemed to want. Working with contractors to completely elevate the exterior, kitchens and bathrooms and eventually build an in-law suite and primary suite addition, she transformed the space from dull to spectacular. That project and the subsequent inquiries from friends & family members looking for design help sparked a burning desire to start an interior design business. She went on to earn a Certificate of Interior Design from the New York Institute of Art & Design and is taking on clients in the Washington, DC region where she resides with her husband and two dogs. Olivia serves as CMO at Curbio, a pre-sale renovation company, where she is constantly exposed to design trends and insights on increasing ROI for homeowners as well as a broad network of contractors.
Olivia’s own interior style can be described as Modern European. Both refined & effortless, her interior projects are punctuated by antiques and vintage pieces inspired by her travels. Every space she creates has elements of planned austerity, work by emerging artists, and detailed vignettes filled with personal treasures, resulting in balanced interiors with a heartbeat & soul. She can work on any style of project and values a collaborative relationship with her clients.
